Giizhikaandag Healing Centre
- a treatment program serving aboriginal youth displaying sexually intrusive and abusive behavior patterns with the assistance of Woods Homesa nationally recognized facility treating youth and families since 1914.
Sexually Intrusive youth
The problem and what to do about it;
Every community has challenging youth. Youth with sexually intrusive behavior patterns can be the most challenging yet are often left ignored or isolated as professionals and communities, including aboriginal communities, are unsure about what can be done and who can do it.
Presenter;
Dr. Gary Brayton has over 20 years of experience in treating young people with sexually intrusive behaviors. During his presentation, Dr. Brayton will answer the questions, What is the problem? Why does it happen? What can we do about it?
In addition, Dr.Brayton will explore how to distinguish between normal, problematic and abusive sexual behavioral patterns and suggest intervention strategies.
The following morning Calvin Morrisseau, Executive Director of Giizhikaandag Healing Centre and Peter Wittig Director of Woods Homes will explore effective treatment strategies to address this issue with first Nation Youth.
